We're getting a head start on this year's Thanksgiving, dedicating the next day and a half to the big day.  Grab your beverage of choice and pull up a seat to our virtual table.  From our family to yours, have a wonderful, food-tastic Thanksgiving!

Chianti Braised Turnips: 

Turnips taste like fall, they have this earthiness to them that seems to compliment just about everything on the Thanksgiving dinner table.  This year I wanted to do something different and decided to push the envelope a little bit with this classic.  I turned to Chef Mario Batali for inspiration, deciding to play a little with his chianti braised turnips recipe.

The recipe calls for peeled, sliced turnips to boil in nothing more than the iconic Italian wine.

After 40 minutes the turnips take on this amazing light red color, they actually taste fine just like this but there is more work to do.

The turnips will sit overnight in a reduced wine sauce sweetened with honey.  Tomorrow they'll be sprinkled with salt and splashed with red wine vinaigrette before being served.
